The Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, is on a eight-day working visit to the United States from Oct 4.
The focus of the visit is to attend a Roundtable Forum on the Sustainable Development of Palm Oil in Washington from Oct 8-11, where he will deliver a keynote address.
The forum is jointly organised by the Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI), the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) and the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB).
In addition, Dompok will also chair the Malaysia-US Strategic Partner Dialogue in both New Orleans and Washington, on exploring business opportunities in the palm oil related industry.
Today, he officiated and delivered a keynote address at the Global Oils and Fat Forum (GOFF), in New Orleans.
This forum was aimed at disseminating information on current market trends and economics of oils and fats as well as explore opportunities for palm oil in the US food industry.
The programme in Washington include bilateral meetings with the US Department of Agriculture, the US Environmental Protection Agency and a roundtable meeting with US timber importers.
